Cemetery Commission Request for Bid

Requesting bids for the maintenance and mowing of the following six cemeteries:

  • Maplewood Cemetery located on Stockbridge Common
  • Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Ranney Road
  • Abbott Cemetery located on River Road
  • South Hill Cemetery located on South Hill
  • Sylvester Cemetery located on Vermont Route 107.
  • Betsy Bartlett gravesite located on Route 100 near the Route 107/Route 100 intersection.

 

The Contractor shall not be deemed an employee or an agent of the Town of Stockbridge but rather shall be deemed an independent contractor.

Proof of liability insurance and Worker’s Compensation (if you have employees) will be required prior to awarding of the bid.

The Contractor shall provide their own mowing equipment, labor, gasoline and all other services and materials necessary to accomplish the mowing and lawn clean-up operation. 

It is the responsibility of the Contractor to be aware of key events (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, etc.) involving the areas to be mowed and ensure that they are prepared.  The Contractor will also be notified in the event a burial is scheduled and refrain from maintenance or mowing activities during burial services. 

Cemeteries are to be mowed and trimmed on a weekly basis or as needed depending on weather conditions from May 1st to October 31st.  Services will also include a Spring and Fall clean up of leaves, sticks or other debris.

This bid will be for a THREE-YEAR TERM beginning April 15, 2026 through November 15, 2029.  Please submit at least one work referral with the bid.  The award will be based on price and the referral(s). 

Bids must be received at the Stockbridge Town Office, P.O. Box 38, Stockbridge, VT.  05772 by 12:00 noon, Tuesday November 21, 2025.  The Cemetery Commission reserves the right to refuse any/or all bids.
