Looking for ZBA Members
Stockbridge is looking for 2 ZBA members.
The Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) is a quasi-judicial body responsible for reviewing applications for conditional uses and variances, as well as hearing appeals of zoning administrator decisions. The ZBA also has the authority to interpret zoning ordinances and apply them to specific cases.
Typically, we see 2 to 3 applications that require review by the ZBA each year. The Zoning administrator assists the applicant in preparing and presenting all necessary documents for the ZBA review and assures that they are posted in the appropriate places prior to the meeting. The meetings are held in person at the Town office with a zoom option for the applicant, ZBA members and interested parties to attend.
The ZBA hears all documentation presented and concerns by interested parties. They then excuse, all outside, interested parties, and the applicant, and discuss their opinion. They then write up their findings which are sent to the applicant. The time involved for the review process averages about two hours. On occasion, it will require a site visit prior to the meeting. A great deal of the communication is handled electronically prior to the review.
