A Vermont Town Clerk is a key elected (appointed in Stockbridge) official responsible for recording, preserving, and certifying municipal public records, including land records, vital statistics (births, deaths, marriages), and acting as the chief election officer. They manage voter checklists, issue dog and marriage licenses , and often serve as the Clerk to the Board of Civil Authority.

The elected Selectboard consists of three members, 3 members serving for 3-year terms and. The Selectboard meets soon after Town Meeting each year to select a chair. The Selectboard is the town’s legislative body, enacting ordinances, regulations and policies, and is responsible for overall management of the town, including town property and personnel, annual planning for maintenance of town roads, and the annual town budget; and appointing most non-elected local officials. The Selectboard meets on the first and third Thursday of every month. The regular meetings start at 6:00 PM and are held at the Stockbridge Town Clerk’s Office located at 1722 VT Route 100.
