Stockbridge Selectboard Adopts a Parking Ordinance

NOTICE OF PARKING ORDINANCE

On, March 2, 2023, the Selectboard of the Town of Stockbridge, Vermont, adopted a PARKING ORDINANCE pursuant to the State of Vermont authority granted in 24 V.S.A. Chapter 59, 24 V.S.A. § 2291 (4), and 23 V.S.A § 3510.  This notice is published pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 1972 to inform the public of the revision and of the citizens’ right to petition for a vote to disapprove this ordinance.   

The full text of the Ordinance has been posted on the bulletin boards located at the Town Office, Town Post Offices and on the Town Website.  The full text of the Ordinance may also be examined at the Stockbridge Town Office at 1722 VT RTE 100 during regular office hours. CITIZENS’ RIGHT TO PETITION FOR VOTE Title 24 V.S.A. § 1973 grants citizens the right to petition for a vote at a special or annual Selectboard Meeting to disapprove ordinance revisions adopted by the Selectboard. To exercise this right, citizens must present to the Selectboard or the Town Clerk a petition for a vote on the question of disapproving the revisions signed by not less than five percent (5%) of the Town’s qualified voters. Unless a petition requesting a vote is filed pursuant to 24 V.S.A. § 1973, the “Parking Ordinance” shall become effective on May 1, 2023.
